Pixel Budget Open Beta Starts on May 23

We’re excited to announce that Pixel Budget will move to Open Beta on May 23! First of all, thank you to all Private Beta participants for your feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and support throughout the beta period. The Private Beta started on April 1 and it has been a very productive period for the project. During the past weeks we fixed many minor and medium bugs, improved the user experience across the app, corrected many typos, and made numerous usability improvements based directly on user feedback. We also expanded the Quick Help system by adding more quick help icons across the application to better help new users get started with budgeting and expense tracking. Two important new features were introduced during the Private Beta: Scheduled Transactions Recurring Transactions The User Guide was also updated and expanded with new pages and improvements. Detailed information about the changes and improvements can be found in the blog posts from the past weeks. Duri...

Improvements in Today’s Update

Based on feedback from the Private Beta, we’ve made the following improvements in today’s update: πŸ‘‰ Added more Quick Help icons (a question mark or an “i” in a circle) throughout the app. Clicking these icons opens helpful information panels with useful tips and explanations. These are especially helpful for new users who are still getting familiar with the app. New Quick Help icons have been added to the Expense Categories, Income Categories, Settings, and Budgeting pages. πŸ‘‰ Added a new option on the App Settings page ( My Finances → Settings → App Settings ) under Appearance that lets you show or hide the Quick Help icons using the Show Quick Help Icons switch. This option is enabled by default. πŸ‘‰ Fixed several typos and minor UI cosmetic issues across the app. Open Beta is coming soon — stay tuned! ✌️

New Feature: Recurring Transactions

Today’s update, in addition to several bug fixes, introduces the new Recurring Transactions feature. From now on, you can set up recurring transactions with just a few clicks: click the menu icon of an existing transaction and select Make Recurring . Recurring transactions can be viewed and managed on the previously introduced Scheduled Transactions page. The User Guide has also been updated. Check out these pages to learn more about the new feature: Scheduled Transactions : https://help.pixelbudget.com/p/zz1fqtR-COWmbT/Scheduled-Transactions Recurring Transactions : https://help.pixelbudget.com/p/zagMnvcZglbPbV/Recurring-Transactions The Recurring Transactions feature is available in both the web app and the mobile app.

Improvement: Scheduled Transactions

Until now, if you added a transaction with a future date, it appeared on the Transactions page along with all the other transactions. From now on, it will be listed on the new Scheduled Transactions page. When the date arrives, the scheduled transaction is automatically moved to the standard Transactions page. If you change the date of a transaction on either of the two transaction pages, its location changes accordingly. To open the Scheduled Transactions page in the web app, select My Finances   →   Scheduled Transactions from the left-side menu. In the mobile app, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner, then select Scheduled Transactions . The introduction of the Scheduled Transactions page is the first phase of the implementation of the Recurring Transactions feature , which is coming soon. The User Guide will be updated when the Recurring Transactions feature is released. Stay tuned!✌️

New Features Coming in Beta

You can check the latest upcoming features and improvements in the Help Center: https://help.pixelbudget.com  → Beta Info → New Features Coming in Beta Based on the first feedback from private beta users, the Recurring Transactions feature seems to be the highest priority, so I’ve started working on it. This feature will be released in two parts: Part 1: Scheduled Transactions If you add a transaction with a future date, it won’t appear on the Transactions page. Instead, it will be listed on a new Scheduled Transactions page. When the date arrives, the transaction will be automatically added to the Transactions page. Part 2: Recurring Transactions When you create a recurring transaction, the next occurrence will always appear on the Scheduled Transactions page. When the date arrives, it will be automatically added to the Transactions page.

Bug Fixes in Today’s Update

Today’s update includes fixes for the following issues: Category groups and categories were not sorted alphabetically when their names started with emojis. The Notes field was missing from the Filter Transactions dialog (mobile app). Leading or trailing spaces in category, category group, or account names could cause exceptions or prevent the UI from updating properly after saving. Various UI typos have been corrected. Both the web app and the mobile app are updated automatically—there’s no need to reinstall anything.
